Martin Ballendat, born in 1958, has already received over 30 prizes and awards for his work. After studying industrial design at the Folkwangschule university in Essen, Germany, he worked as a designer for C. Stoll and then as product developer for Wiesner Hager for whom he developed pioneering modular furniture for the office of the communication age. In 1995 he opened his own design studio in Simbach am Inn, Bavaria, a choice which was heavily influenced by a charming art nouveau villa and its central location with respect to his clients in Germany, Austria and Italy. In recent years Ballendat has not only created furniture, but also table accessories, lighting and technical devices. Together with his five-strong team he also offers CI consulting, graphic and media design and a trade fair and exhibition service. His design philosophy is as comprehensive as his range of services: he looks for solutions which meet the demands of both the manufacturer and the user. [source: www.wittmann.at]
